Dior's Golden Winter Collection Is Inspired by the Lights of Versailles

Dior's Golden Winter Collection Is Inspired by the Lights of Versailles

Dior’s holiday cosmetic campaign brings back Russian supermodel Daria Strokous from their Fall/Winter 2013 line, to be the face of the Golden Winter Collection. Wearing a sparkling, sheer Dior gown and large ruby earrings, Strokous runs around looking like royalty in the new, limited-edition shades. The makeup set is inspired by the lights of Versailles and is dripping in various hues of seasonal gold. This precious metal was the framework of the collection, bringing to mind the opulence of the French palace.

Coming in a shimmery, metallic sheen the lipstick, aptly named Diorific, is held in a curvy, golden case and is available in Diva, Winter, Royale and Minuit. The Diorific Vernis polish comes in three shades: Winter, Marilyn and Minuit. Trying a new touch on their basic lacquer, Dior has also come out with a gold and silver crystalizing duo that consists of iridescent micro-pearls to make your mani sparkle. The two, five-color eye shadow palettes, Golden Flower and Golden Snow are meant to glitter, illuminate and highlight your eyes, while two fairy-tale inspired Addict Glosses, Enchanted Rose and Pink Fantasy, create luscious lips.

Dior Diorific Vernis for Holiday 2013

Recently I shared with you a preview of the stunning new Dior collection for Holiday 2013, Golden Winter. Included in this limited edition collection are three divine Diorific Vernis shades as well as the new Diorific Jewel Manicure Duo, a three-dimensional effect-mani which was inspired by the magnificent adornments of Versailles.

Today I bring you the three Diorific Vernis shades: Frimas (318), Minuit (995) and Marilyn (751), below left to right, in the most adorable retro bottles! These bottles are so pretty that they deserve to sit on your makeup counter or dresser, displayed as little treasures would be!

Frimas is a greige (grey-beige) pink-leaning shade with a distinctive gold glass fleck. What is incredible about Frimas is how intense the shimmer within it is! Application was easy, and the polish was opaque by the second coat. Drytime with Dior Vernis seems to be great across the board.

Here are two coats of Frimas, pre-top coat in direct sunlight:

Look at the shine in the shade:

Well what can I say about Minuit, the vamp of this collection… Minuit will leave you breathless! A deep burgundy with red and gold shimmer, it seems lit from within – and the shiny finish will only serve to further seduce you.

Two coats of Minuit in artificial light:

Minuit sparkling in the sun:

And speaking of seduction… this is Marilyn, a bright, classic red shade inspired by Miss Monroe. I believe this shade was first introduced for Holiday 2012 and I honestly can’t blame Dior for bringing it back. Everyone needs some Marilyn in their lives…

Marilyn had a slight crelly finish (cream-jelly), and was probably the easiest of the three polishes to apply due to its self-levelling and superior coverage. Don’t even get me started on the shine, seen below at two coats without top coat (artificial light):

Which of these beauties is your favourite?

The Dior Golden Winter Holiday Colour Collection will be available in limited release at Dior counters in November, as well as online at thebay.com! For more information (no shipping available to Canada), head to Dior.com!
